Robb Freda-Lowie, Multnomah County Dept of Community Justice
Robb was invited to talk about community notification of sex offenders. The Dept of Community Justice supervises about 9000 adults and 650 juveniles in the community. Notice is only made in the case of predatory offenders, currently about 190. The notification plan is individualized for each offender. The web site is www.co.multnomah.or.us/dcj
Robb can be reached at 503-988-5820 or robb.freda-lowie@co.multnomah.or.us
Lisa Naito, Multnomah County Commissioner
The county wants to divest the Penumbra Kelly building which is shared between the county and the city. If the city doesn’t want to purchase it, the county will sell it on the open market. The county has had preliminary talks with the city but a formal offer hasn’t yet been made. We express our strong interest in the city Police Precinct remaining there, Lisa says that it’s the city’s decision. She thinks it’s in the best interest of the county to sell the building, which would require expensive structural upgrades if the county were to maintain its presence there.
Liz Williams, John Wish, and Simeon Hyde Multnomah Friends
The Multnomah Friends have occupied the building on Stark at 44th since 1960. They want to undertake a renovation that will require a land use review. They also own the adjacent house to the east, which will be demolished (or perhaps moved). The goals are to improve the facilities for the children’s programs, improve ADA compliance, and aesthetics.
Action: The October minutes are approved unanimously.
Treasury report – Robert: roughly $634 in checking; $7070 money market; we have a $511 balance at SEUL
Land Use – Barry: The revised proposal for the duplex at 60th and Willow was approved. Due to lack of interest from the neighbors that opposed the original proposal, we will not pursue an appeal.
Neighbors unhappy about the approved subdivision at 6305 NE Oregon question whether we should have a stated policy regarding higher density.
SEUL Board – Shirley: SEUL is going to try house parties as a new fundraising strategy. The goal will be for each to raise $500.
SEUL volunteer recognition to be held 12/9.
