Portland Community of Christ will host an event for the International Day of Prayer for Peace from 2:00-7:30 PM on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Come and celebrate the work that is already being done in Portland for homeless individuals and families. We’ll also create a vision of hope for the future in continuing to encourage a permanent solution to the crisis of homelessness in our city. Activities include a keynote address, breakout sessions presented by several local non-profits, a homeless simulation activity, a light meal, and an evening interfaith service including a Peace award honoring the mission of a local non-profit serving the homeless population.
Current participants include:
Human Solutions/Daybreak Shelter
New City Initiative—Village Support Network
My Father’s House
Northwest Pilot Project
Welcome Home Coalition
With volunteer and publicity support from:
Interfaith Council of Greater Portland, Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, Community of Christ, Warner Pacific College, Southeast Uplift, North Tabor Neighborhood Association, Voices Unlimited
We are still looking for sponsorship support for the evening meal and other event costs.
